Dr. Trina Young has worked in the mental health field since 1990. She is recognized for her work with individuals struggling to recover from trauma, grief and loss issues, and anxiety disorders. Besides her extensive work with children and adolescents, she is an adjunct instructor at Regent University. Dr. Young believes that all healing has a spiritual foundation and she is committed to assisting others to find meaning and true peace in their lives.

Dr. Young is the founder and clinical director of Genesis Counseling Center. She is a native of Hampton, Virginia and is committed to serving the Hampton Roads community. As the daughter of missionaries to Africa, she has served as a consultant to missionaries and in ministry to African refugees. She authored a manual for Christian ministers dealing with victims of trauma. Contact her at Genesis Counseling Center for more information. Shelby DeBause, M.A.

DeBause is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has been in the counseling field since 1999. She received her Master's degree from Appalachian State University, and then proceeded into a two year residency at a psychiatric hospital in northern virginia. She has also worked in the fields of foster care and at a residential treatment center for adolescents. Mrs. DeBause has been with her current group of colleagues at Genesis since 2004.

Mrs. DeBause specializes in the treatment of adolescents, women, and family issues, as well as a wide array of mood disorders such as anxiety and depression. She also facilitates the adolescent treatment group here at Genesis. She is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage
and Family Therapists and of the American Association of Christian Counselors. She is currently the Virginia Association of Marriage and Family Therapy's Eastern Region Vice-President.

Mrs. DeBause lives on the southside of the Hampton Roads, VA area. She enjoys sports of all kinds, reading, and teaching 7th grade Sunday school at her church.
